Oh my did School House Rock! These kiddos spent 5 weeks putting together a show. It was so great.
There were 10 or more kiddos from our church in the show. A few of the boys we’ve known since pre-school. It was very fun to see these little guys singing and grooving their hearts out. They worked really hard and tonight was their first real run through with no stops! And it is the first of only two performances. It was truly delightful. I am looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow with my big bro.
Jman is the gentleman in the bathrobe wondering how 50 kids got into his rec room while he is getting ready for his first day of teaching school.
J is preparing to learn that “three is a magic number.”
Em and Caroline sing “Unpack Your Adjectives.” J comes out dressed like a bear during this song. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a picture of him like that tomorrow night!
Just before “Elbow Room” the costume change was taking just a little longer than planned so J and Kenny ad-libbed a bit. J said, “So Kenny, how ya doin’?” Kenny smiled up at J and said, “Fine.” J realized that the scene was going to take a little longer to get started so he asked, “So Kenny, how are the wife and kids?” (Audience laughter) Kenny looking puzzled up at J replied, “I don’t actually have a wife or kids.” (Audience laughter) J looked down at Kenny and then out at the audience, “Oh,” he responded. (Audience laughter)
Em sings “Elbow Room” in her best twangy accent!
I couldn’t help but cry as I listened to her sing. I didn’t even notice the other kiddos during that song. She has waited a few years to be a part of an RCT production, and has over come a bad case of stage fright. She just got right up there and started belting it out. Jeff mentioned that during the ride into the theater she mentioned that she felt scared, but decided that she was just going to go and have fun with her friends. She sure did!
This pretty much sums up how they felt about the experience. They loved it!
J was really excited after tonight’s performance. He was all smiles. I think that he caught the bug again. He really enjoys the feeling of being on stage. Em likes it too.
J & Em after the show. It was fun to see them both in a show together.
It’s another easy day tomorrow. We are going to take it slow. I’m going to see how I feel, and may have to direct the family from my bed. That’s okay as long as it means I get to see the kiddos’ show again tomorrow night.
I am gushing with pride tonight. I hope I can get to sleep!

Oh, Amy, your kids are sure cute!
Now, I want to go see their show. I will have to look it up and see if it works in our schedule.

Anyway, the girls are:
Alexa W.
Megan G.
Morgan T.
I went back and looked and I can see Alexa in the pictures you posted. I wish they would of told me because I would of gone and seen them. I’ve gone to Hosanna Dance production to see a girl in my troop.

Em and J, you two ‘ROCK’ all the way to Nebraska! Good job! Now J, give your dad his glasses back!! LOL
I wish I could have seen it! I love School House Rock! You rock J and E!
Hi Weinkaufs,
You guys rock and made my day. I loved reading your posting about School House Rocks (Amy, you have a gift for writing!). I especially enjoyed the photos of Jordan and Emma. How very brave to perform in front of so many people. It’s in the genes! How quick that Jordan thought to ad lib just when necessary. Stand up comic in the future??? Do I see a little of Judi and Amy in Emma? What a thrill. Hope the second night goes just as well!!
Amy, I hope you are feeling better every day. Am sure that Jeff is picking up the slack around the house. Wishing you a smashing success with your upcoming community concert. Only wish I could be there to cheer you on! So, go girl and enjoy every minute, just like Emma said!!
Thanks to the entire family for your daily prayers. I hear them always.
Love,
Viv
